Final: Pinecrest 52 - Reynolds 14

Pinecrest football coach Chris Metzger collected on the field win No. 99 Friday as his Patriots humbled R.J. Reynolds 52-14 in Winston-Salem.

Quarterback Ben Garbark ran for a touchdown and threw for two more as the Patriots improved to 3-0. Garbark lead all rushers with 112 yards on 15 carries including a 1-yard dive in the first quarter. He also completed 5 of 8 passes for 92 with touchdown strikes to Clint McNeill (23 yards) and Zyheem Kelly (11 yards).

Pinecrest rolled up 376 yards on the ground that included rushing touchdowns from Kelly (17 yards), Anthony Martin (25 yards) and Savion Kizer (22 yards).

Mac McFadden had a 24-yard scoop and run on the Reynolds opening drive to give the Patriot defense a touchdown in the second straight game. The Patriot defense held the Demons to 224 yards of total offense and pitched a second-half shutout for the third straight week.

Jeff Yurk had a 30-yard field goal and Nick Boulanger had a 2-point conversion run for Pinecrest special teams.

Metzger can get on the field win No. 100 at Pinecrest next week against Union Pines. He took over the Patriot program in 2007 and led the team to a 3-8 record his first season — totaling the success of the two previous head coaches in their combined four years at the helm of the program.
